About Alvin

Alvin is an affectionate and athletic 4-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer ready to be your adventure buddy. At 61 pounds of muscle, he combines energy with a calm demeanor at home, making him a perfect balance of fun and companionship. His foster mom describes him as someone who ‘melts in your hands’ when he gets ear scratches; he loves snuggling and napping close to his people. When Alvin steps outside, his playful side takes over. He enjoys long walks and would be a fantastic match for runners or hikers. He absolutely adores people of all ages, from kids to seniors, happily engaging with everyone he meets. His training experiences have shown his excellent manners, and he is eager to learn more with the right guidance and treats. While Alvin has a strong prey drive and is curious about outdoor animals, he does get along well with his foster family's Sphynx cat, suggesting he could share a home with another cat under the right circumstances. However, he prefers to be the only dog for now, as he needs space to feel secure and establish his comfort without the additional challenge of other dogs. Alvin's ideal home would include active individuals who appreciate a dog’s body language and are committed to ongoing training. A tall, secure fence is necessary for his safety, especially since he has shown he can jump high. This sweet boy has had a rough past, marked by injury and multiple transitions. Now, he seeks a stable, loving environment to settle into, where he can thrive as the affectionate companion he is. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
