About Coconut
Meet Coconut! A loving eight-year-old Dutch Shepherd and German Shepherd mix in Portland, OR. With her beautiful tan brindle coat and soulful eyes, she radiates gentle devotion. Weighing in at 55 pounds, Coconut enjoys being close to her humans. Cuddling is near the top of her list of favorite activities, alongside neighborhood walks, hikes, and beach outings. She’s entertained by tug of war, chew treats, and puzzles. On the snack front, she finds joy in blueberries, apples, and cucumbers. Coconut is house-trained, crate trained, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. She knows commands like sit, down, shake, high five, park it, leave it, and let's go, thanks to formal obedience training. While she's comfortable being left alone for short stretches, she loves car rides and behaves well during vet visits and grooming. After surgery on both knees for a ligament injury, she's been without issues since. Affectionate with people, Coconut grew up around children. Calm, respectful, school-age kids would be her ideal companions. She's a little anxious around several dogs and tends to be vocal when there's a visitor, like the mail carrier. Coconut needs to be the only pet in her home due to a history of resource guarding. She has never bitten a person, but a pet-free environment is essential for her wellbeing. A quiet, structured household with thoughtful management of food and toys will help her flourish, along with a fenced yard. Coconut is ready to share love, adventures, and those adorable ears with a caring family. Could she be the devoted companion you've been searching for? If you're interested in adopting Coconut, please email adopt@joyfulpets.com for more information. She remains with her current family until the right match is found and is open to long-distance adoption. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
