Meet Dutton. He's an older gentleman eager to leave his shelter days behind and enjoy his golden years with a family that appreciates him just as he is. Dutton came to us from a shelter in Maryland, and while we don’t know the full story of how he got there, we're dedicated to finding him the perfect home for this next chapter in his life. Since arriving, Dutton has shown he has plenty of personality and fun still to offer. He loves his toys, enjoys time outdoors, and is always up for some playful exploration. Food is a great motivator for him, which will help in building a relationship and continuing his training. Dutton has shared space with a female dog and they've gotten along well. However, he can be protective of his toys and bed, so his new family will need to respect his boundaries and manage his resources well. He met our office cat, Tony, and remained calm during their introduction. As always, supervised introductions are important when bringing a new pet home. Dutton might come off as a little aloof with newcomers. He tends to focus on familiar faces rather than seeking attention from strangers. Building trust with him is key, and once you’re in his circle, you’ll have a loyal companion.
