About Duke
Duke is about 4 years old and a neutered male German Shepherd in search of a new home. He thrives best in a rural environment, ideally with some space—whether that means a big fenced yard or even a bit of land to roam. Right now, Duke finds himself in an apartment, and the shift from an active lifestyle with other dogs to a quieter space has caused some restlessness. Although he’s well-behaved indoors with no accidents or chewing, he shows signs of pent-up energy by barking at other dogs during walks. It’s important to note that he’s not aggressive; rather, he’s expressing frustration over the limited outlet for his energy. Duke is sociable with other dogs and adult cats but should not be around kittens, as he might chase them. He enjoys car rides and playing in water, and he has a special stuffed opossum that he carries everywhere. This loyal companion bonds deeply with his humans and has a big personality that truly shines. Duke also has seasonal allergies that require him to take medications in the spring and summer, costing around $50-60 monthly.
