About Salem
Meet Salem, an approximately 9-month-old Goldendoodle and Great Dane mix currently in foster care near Cedar Rapids, Iowa. After arriving as an owner surrender with his siblings, heโs on a journey of discovering safety and comfort in a loving home. Salem is a gentle and sweet boy who is still adjusting to his new surroundings, slowly gaining confidence day by day. He enjoys the companionship of other dogs and is more comfortable when theyโre around, especially with a buddy like Willie. Little by little, heโs learning to enjoy the simple joys of home life, like lounging on the couch and cozy beds. Food motivates Salem โ especially when it comes to people food. His foster is working on establishing boundaries and teaching him what he can and canโt have. Heโs showed promise in learning basic commands and has begun mastering the command to sit, although he still practices consistency. While Salem is making strides with potty training and has had no accidents, heโs also working on leash manners and crate training. His current challenge is the crate; he gets anxious, howling and drooling when confined. Car rides and unfamiliar doorways can increase his nerves, so he's looking for a patient family willing to support him in building confidence at his own pace. For his new home, Salem would thrive with a calm and confident canine companion. He needs a family that grasps how important trust-building is, realizing it takes time and patience. With consistent positive reinforcement and love, Salem can grow into a wonderfully affectionate companion. Salem is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, and his adoption fee is $450. He is ready to find a family who will cherish him and help him flourish.
