About Oliver
Meet Oliver, the gentle giant wrapped in 80 pounds of Great Pyrenees fluff. He embodies the calm composure of a retired gentleman and holds a delightful side labeled “adventure mode.” At roughly 6 years old, Oliver thrives in a tranquil environment. He can stroll past barking dogs without a care, sleep through household commotion, and ride quietly in the car. Just show him a leash, and it’s game on; this fluffy cloud has places to be. Oliver is currently being fostered in Kiowa, OK, and requires an in-person pick-up; he doesn’t travel well. Life threw him a curveball when his family faced health challenges, which led him to his rescue. He arrived with a long-healing wound that is now getting better with treatment. He is also undergoing heartworm treatment, but he takes his meds like a champ. Though he might initially seem reserved, a little love and a belly rub will unveil his sweet personality. Once the snuggles start, he’s quick to remind you that attention should never end too soon. Oliver is friendly with other dogs and is gentle with smaller companions. He enjoys playtime with larger dogs but respects their space. His encounters with small animals and cats have been serene, showing he’s more interested in lounging around than chasing. When it comes to children, he remains calm and accepting, even amid enthusiastic greetings. His energy level rests around a 4 out of 10: he loves walks, car rides, and new adventures, yet he’s equally happy to take long naps. At home, Oliver is house trained and knows commands like sit, down, wait, and come. He is comfortable in a kennel but prefers to free roam while his foster is away. His playful spirit occasionally emerges, much to the joy of his foster family who views him as a work in progress discovering the fun of life. However, he does tend to counter surf if food is left unattended, so a watchful eye is essential. His future family should be around often to help him settle into a routine, as he may howl when left alone for long periods. Oliver would thrive in a home with a securely fenced yard, room to grow, and a loving family that can provide him with a mix of adventure and quiet time. This darling boy has so much to offer and is ready to blossom into the affectionate companion he’s meant to be.
