About Zeke
Meet Zeke! This gentle giant has faced misunderstanding throughout his life. Initially, his owner intended to breed him, but Zeke refused to conform to that role and ended up abandoned at a high-kill shelter in the Carolinas. At just three years old, he arrived scared and showing signs of previous abuse. Luckily, Zeke and his mate were taken in by our rescue after many pleas for help. Over the past few months, Zeke has transformed into a trusting and loving companion. He has a curious nature, often trying to explore beyond fences, doors, and windows, and prefers not to be left alone for too long. While he's good with other dogs, he struggles with smaller ones and does not get along with cats, making a home without young children ideal for him. Zeke can display barrier aggression if other dogs trigger him, but he's not the one to start it. He is also an excellent watchdog, always alerting you when someone arrives. With his impressive presence, you can feel safe with him by your side. Now, this beautiful boy is ready to find his forever home. Will it be with you? Adoption fee: $450. Includes transport to the Midwest, Northeast, or Southeast. What are you waiting for? Apply today!

Questions about Zeke
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Zeke, being an Akita, typically does best in a home that allows space for his large frame and energy. He appreciates a safe area to roam without small animals or children.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Zeke enjoys having ample outdoor space to explore. A secure yard would be ideal for him to stretch his legs and satisfy his curiosity.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Due to Zeke's tendency to get anxious around smaller or more active children under twelve, a home without young kids is recommended.
