About Wilson
Meet Wilson! Wilson is a striking 3-year-old Giant Schnauzer, weighing around 75 pounds. Found as a stray in Detroit, he had a microchip, but unfortunately, it wasn’t registered, and no owner could be located. Now, Wilson is ready to leave the past behind and find the loving family he deserves. This impressive dog showcases the size, presence, and personality that define Giant Schnauzers. Initially shy with newcomers, it doesn’t take him long to warm up. Once comfortable, his loyal and affectionate nature truly shines. Wilson has fared well with other dogs his size and exhibits good house manners. He is learning the routine in his foster home and is currently working on crate training. As he settles in, he has started showing interest in toys, embracing the joys of being a cherished family pet. However, he hasn't met any cats yet, so his compatibility with them is still a mystery. While Wilson has a tendency to pull on the leash, he responds well to correction. A physically fenced yard is ideal due to his strength, or he should be with a strong handler committed to reinforcing his leash training. Note that Wilson is not suitable for invisible fences or tethering. This handsome boy requires a breed-experienced adopter, as Giant Schnauzers are intelligent, powerful dogs that thrive with structure and training. Regular grooming is essential to keep his distinctive coat healthy. With his size and energy, Wilson is not fit for apartment living; he needs space to roam. He also boasts a deep bark and will alert his family to anything he deems noteworthy! Older, dog-savvy children would be the perfect match for Wilson. He’s a loyal, intelligent companion who’s looking for a family that appreciates everything a Giant Schnauzer offers. Most importantly, he seeks a forever home filled with love. Wilson is up-to-date on Bordetella, Distemper, and Rabies vaccines. He’s been dewormed, tested negative for heartworms, and is receiving heartworm and flea prevention. He’s also microchipped and neutered. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
