About Oreo

Meet Oreo! This spirited eleven-year-old Terrier mix lives in Amherst, MA, and his affectionate personality shines brightly through his striking black-and-white coat. Weighing about 30 pounds, Oreo approaches life with a puppy-like enthusiasm that's infectious. He loves companionship, enjoys exploring, and relishes those moments curled up close with his favorite people, offering sweet kisses to those he trusts. Oreo is a true gem despite his senior status. He thrives on yard time and walks, demonstrating that age doesn't slow him down. He is house-trained, neutered, vaccinated, and knows commands like "sit." This clever fellow could benefit from positive reinforcement to further enhance his leash skills. While he has a strong prey drive and will chase squirrels, he does require a securely fenced yard for safe outdoor adventures. Important to note, he cannot share a home with cats due to his instinct to chase. Although Oreo can be selective with other dogs, he previously cohabitated with a Shih-Tzu, so with measured introductions, he may be suited for a calm canine companion. Regular walks will help him burn off his energy while satisfying his curiosity. An adult home without young children works best for Oreo. Loud noises may cause him to retreat, and he can be protective over food. Supervised meals and thoughtful structuring will help reinforce balanced behaviors. He's relaxed when alone for short periods, though storms and fireworks can induce anxiety. Oreo benefits from grooming every few weeks and has no major health concerns, aside from a couple of lost teeth and past ACL issues that have healed. Oreo is eager for a new chapter filled with exploration and cuddles. Could this clever, kiss-giving senior be the joyful companion you've been waiting to welcome home?
