Meet Sir Smokey! This handsome, happy boy is a true people-lover who greets everyone he meets with a wagging tail and plenty of enthusiasm. With his vibrant personality, Smokey is ready to be your loyal companion. Smokey was surrendered by an elderly couple who loved him but felt that his energy was more than they could handle. Thankfully, a wonderful foster stepped in, and now Smokey is looking for an active forever family that can keep pace with his zest for life. Smokey enjoys the company of other dogs and plays well with his canine foster siblings, displaying respect towards more dominant dogs while knowing when to take a backseat. He coexists with cats too, showing little interest in them. Smokey loves children but his exuberance and developing manners may be too much for very young ones. He’s good on a leash, although his social nature sometimes gets the better of him, leading him to pull or leap for a friendly hello. Smokey is also a good traveler, behaving well on trips to the vet. Crate trained, he settles at night and is making strides in his housetraining. While he’s improving, you might notice a bit of excitement-related pee when he’s especially happy. Smokey would be an excellent fit for a younger, active family eager for a companion to join them on walks, hikes, and outdoor adventures.
