Meet Blu! This vibrant two-and-a-half-year-old Boxer/Pit Bull Terrier mix is currently living in Amherst, MA. With her boundless energy, Blu's big heart shines through her beautiful brown brindle coat accented with white. Her story began unexpectedly when she followed a kind soul home from a grocery store, and she has embraced her new life since. Spayed, vaccinated, and showered with love, Blu shares her home with two senior dogs and a couple of confident cats, all while patiently eager to find her own family. At 65 pounds, Blu is a large dog with an even larger personality. She's affectionate, smart, and motivated to please. Her favorite activities include playing fetch with her soft frisbee, enjoying tug-of-war, and zooming around the yard like a whirlwind. Blu has also developed a unique interest in supervised shredding, delighting in tearing up soft toys and tugging on cardboard strips during training. Blu has an impressive list of commands and responds well to structure and training, especially when treats are involved. Although she is working through her sensitivity to passing cars and men in baseball caps, she's making great progress with positive reinforcement. Blu is energetic and can be excitable, often jumping on people. Her caregivers have been addressing these behaviors, and she can also be destructive if under-stimulated. Regular mental and physical enrichment is important, and Blu thrives with three walks a day, playtime, and enrichment activities. She is crate-trained and house-trained and has been comfortable being left alone for short periods. Blu seeks a loving home where she can thrive, romp freely, and enjoy companionship.
