Meet Sumac, the gentle "protector" who's a bit shy when it comes to new faces! At 7 months old, this German Shepherd mix weighs in at 45 pounds, and while he might look like a brave guard dog, he’d much prefer you to be his shield. Once he bonds with you, he's all about snuggling up and being right at your side, even if it means trying to curl up on your lap. Sumac is making great strides as a house dog. He’s crate trained overnight, nearly housebroken with only one little accident so far, and loves to run and play with his dog friends. He’s also great with kids. While we can’t say how he feels about cats yet, his playful spirit shines through in every activity—from playing fetch to splashing in the pool, and enjoying long walks in the yard. He’s quick to learn commands and has mastered giving the best kisses, which is a critical skill for any companion! After a day full of fun, Sumac is all about winding down and cuddling close. He doesn’t crave the spotlight; he just wants to be near his people, whether it’s on the couch or watching you cook.
