Meet Koa! This 8-month-old German Shepherd mix has made her way from Texas to Buffalo in search of a forever family. Weighing in at 30 pounds, Koa is a spayed female who's eager to learn what it means to be a cherished pet. Having experienced life on the streets, everything about being a house dog is a new adventure for Koa. She delights in the simple pleasures of life—couches are wonderful, and bones are among her favorite discoveries! She's also learning that snuggling close to her human brings her a sense of joy and safety. Koa loves playing with other dogs and currently coexists with cats, though she’s a bit timid around them. She's making steady progress with potty training and is picking up basic commands as well. While crate training is a work in progress, Koa settles down once she feels comfortable. Though she’s met little kids, her playful demeanor sometimes gets a bit too enthusiastic, but she’s learning how to greet them nicely. Koa has come a long way from her difficult past and is looking for a patient family that will show her she’s safe, loved, and truly at home. Could you be the family she’s been searching for?
