Meet Rouse Mouse, the adorable mini Australian Cattle Dog! This sweet girl weighs about 16 pounds and came to the shelter as a stray after her previous guardian could no longer care for her. Rouse Mouse has shown some initial nervousness, but she quickly warms up to those around her, often climbing into laps to steal hearts. She's looking for a patient adopter who can help her settle into a new home. Rouse can get a little mouthy when excited, using her mouth lightly during interactions, which is typical behavior for her breed. She’s previously lived with another dog and got along reasonably well, though she does tend to guard her toys and treats. If you're considering adopting, be prepared for a meet and greet to ensure a good match with any resident pets. Rouse Mouse is not recommended for homes with children. She's enjoyed car rides, making her a delightful companion on the go. Rouse is available for pre-adoption and will be ready for her new home after her spay surgery. Don't forget, each dog adoption from the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter comes with “Pawsitivity Bucks,” a $200 training voucher to help establish a bond with your new furry friend.
