About Gertrude

Meet Gertrude, or Gertie as her friends like to call her. This beautiful terrier mix has already faced more challenges in her young life than any dog should endure. Rescued from dire conditions along with over 80 other dogs, she arrived emaciated, with missing fur, and full of fear. But Gertie has made incredible strides since then. In just a few weeks, she has gained weight, her fur is coming back, and she is beginning to trust people again. Gertie loves curling up next to her human, soaking in the affection, and giving sweet kisses. She's food motivated, a trait she’s embraced after her difficult past, and she gets along splendidly with other dogs in her foster home. Though she’s still learning about being a family pet—especially with potty training and leash walks—she’s much more comfortable in her harness. Gertie can be a bit shy with new experiences and will need a patient adopter who can provide consistency and love as she continues to build her confidence. This little girl is ready to leave her old life behind and find her forever home. With time, she’ll share her heart completely. Gertie is spayed, vaccinated, and ready to meet her new family. If you think you can offer her the love and patience she deserves, reach out today!
