About Ryder
Meet Ryder, your dog's new best friend. This tall, lanky, goofy 11-month-old Anatolian mix is on a journey to discover that the world can be a friendly place. Arriving from a hoarding situation, Ryder has made incredible progress in his foster home, where he’s been introduced to all the good things life has to offer. He thrives on social interactions with other dogs, seeming to love every new playmate he meets. Spending time playing in the yard is his favorite pastime. Ryder lives with two young kids, and despite their rambunctious energy, he enjoys their company. He’s a quiet observer, and when he seeks affection, it’s a meaningful sign of his growing comfort. Ryder may be a big presence, but he’s not a confident dog. His new home should have at least one other dog to give him companionship. Loud noises make him uneasy, but he calms down when with his dog friends. He’s crate-trained and does well in a crate, especially when given something to chew on. He’s house trained; however, he’s still working on his leash manners and prefers a harness as he gets used to wearing a collar. It’s important to note that Ryder has specific requirements for his forever home: a fenced yard because he finds leashes confusing, another playful dog, and an adopter with plenty of patience. He isn’t a cuddly pup, nor is he up for hikes or greeting visitors. Instead, he requires a low-traffic environment where he can feel safe and continue building his confidence. If you’re patient and loving, Ryder will reward you with his loyalty. Ryder is currently in foster care in MI but can travel a reasonable distance.
