About Moxie and Milo

The Empty Nest Lasted Approximately Zero Minutes. Sweet Moxie came to us very pregnant. She had five beautiful puppies. She raised them. She loved them. She weaned them. And then everybody was supposed to move on with their lives. Moxie had some feedback though. And while we would NEVER accuse a mother of having a favorite... It's Milo. Milo is absolutely her favorite. Moxie is about 2 years old and 13 pounds of tiny, scruffy perfection. We're guessing there's some Yorkie, Poodle and Maltese happening in there, but whatever the recipe is, somebody needs to laminate it. Milo, born in April, is essentially her tiny tan copy-and-paste. Same scruff. Same sweet face. Same general appearance of somebody who just woke up from a three-day music festival. And these two are absolutely hilarious together. Moxie will chase Milo around the yard going directly for his little legs. Milo retaliates by going for hers. Nobody wins. Nobody learns anything. Ten minutes later, they do it again. But here's the part that got us: Moxie always chooses Milo. Put them in separate crates and she'll go sit in front of his. Put them in different playpens outside and Moxie wants the one Milo is in. Give her the whole yard, all her friends, all the toys and every option in the world, and she's going to find her boy. Every single time. And Milo is perfectly happy with this arrangement. This puppy appears to have never had a bad day in his life. He wakes up every morning like somebody just told him he's going to Disney World. Going outside? YES. Exploring the yard with Mom? ABSOLUTELY. You made eye contact with him from across the room? BEST DAY OF HIS LIFE. He's curious, affectionate, ridiculously happy and always ready to trot off on another adventure with Moxie nearby. Every so often hell interrupt whatever extremely important puppy business he's conducting just to run over, collect some affection and make sure you still think he's wonderful. We do. Moxie is the thoughtful one. When she first meets someone, she may hang back for a minute and assess the situation. She's not nervous so much as conducting a brief background check. Once you pass? Ohhhh, there she is. Playful, affectionate, funny, sweet and completely delighted to be loved. She has the most adorable little smile and this beautifully balanced personality. She loves walks, backyard adventures and playing outside, but when the day is over, Moxie is perfectly happy curling up beside her people and calling it a night. And Milo? He's probably somewhere nearby. Because thats just how these two operate. Moxie and Milo are available for adoption together, which means one ridiculously lucky household gets the full experience: the adventures, the cuddles, the tiny scruffy faces, the synchronized ankle attacks, and the sound of approximately 25 pounds of dog stampeding through the house like somebody released a herd of miniature buffalo. Moxie was supposed to raise her babies and send them on their way. Instead, she looked at Milo and apparently thought, 'Actually, I'll keep this one.' And Milo seems to have responded, 'Cool. What are we doing today?' Thats them. No drama. No grand love story required. Just a mama and her goofy little boy who genuinely think life is better when the other one is in it. And after watching them together, we think they're onto something. Somewhere out there, two empty spots on someone's couch are about to be filled by a tiny gray scruff and her tiny tan accomplice. Your house is going to be warmer. Your yard is going to be funnier. And you're going to spend an unreasonable amount of your life watching these two chase each other's ankles through the house, whispering 'Look at them!' to nobody in particular like a proud parent at a very poorly organized sporting event. Moxie chose Milo. Milo chose Moxie. Now they're just waiting for someone to look at the two of them and say, 'Yep. I want the whole package!' +++++++ ADOPTION APPLICATION: https://form.jotform.com/260401018308040 +++++++ Moxie and Milo are currently being fostered in Texas and will be transported to the perfect forever home by our rescue! We have transports departing each week! +++++++ What Is a Benefactor Dog or Puppy, and Why Is the Adoption Fee Higher? Benefactor dogs and puppies are typically specific breed mixes or high-demand rescues who tend to find homes quickly even with a higher adoption fee. These dogs play a special role in our mission. Their increased fees help cover the costs for dogs who need much more time, care, and resources before theyre ready for adoption. Some dogs spend monthseven over a yearin our care, requiring expensive surgeries, heartworm treatment, behavioral training, or ongoing medical support. By adopting a Benefactor dog, you're not only giving them a loving homeyoure also helping to fund the second chance of another dog still waiting for theirs. Its a meaningful way to make a difference beyond just one life. +++++++ The Truth About Rescue: Every rescue pup is a work in progress β€” and thats the beauty of it. None of them come wrapped in a bow, ready-made or mistake-free. They come with stories, quirks, and hearts that have seen a lot but still choose to trust again. Adoption isn't about perfection; it's about presence. Showing up for them, every day, until they know theyre finally home. Thats when youll see them bloom β€” soft and steady β€” into the very best version of themselves. And somewhere along the way, you'll realize they were never the only one being rescued. +++++++ Once we have received your application, we will review and reach out to set-up an interview with one of our volunteers! If you have additional questions, please email us at SaintMuttsInquiries@gmail.com. Note: As with all of our rescues, we recommend homes with children 10 years and over to ensure the best fit for both the pets and families involved.
