In the midst of this heatwave, our incredible friends at Rescue 757 delivered the perfect gift: a little Gelato and a little Sorbet. These 10-month-old, roughly 40-pound hound mixes were facing a sad end at an overcrowded rural shelter until a whole network of dog-loving people worked together to get them safely to AAS. Gelato, the boy, is a zippy, zoomy social butterfly. The minute he arrived, he dashed around the yard searching for toys, proudly presented his discoveries to us, leaned in for cuddles, then blasted off again because apparently there was still important dog business to conduct. Sorbet's a little more flirtatious. She'll gently boop you, drop into a play bow, spin away, and wag like she's just told the funniest joke in the world. Sit still a minute and she'll Army crawl toward you, slowly and silently, until you suddenly realize, "Hey, there's a dog in my lap! And it's awesome!" Gelato and Sorbet are not bonded and do not need to be adopted together. Both play beautifully with other dogs. In fact, when our sweet puppy Pineapple was feeling down after his sister Watermelon went home, Gelato and Sorbet stepped right in. They played with him, snuggled him, and generally reminded him that life was good. And don't worry, Pineapple found his family too and will be heading home soon. A few days ago, Gelato and Sorbet were running out of options. Today they're running safely in Animal Aid's yard, joyful, making friends, sneaking into laps, and waiting for families of their own. Huge thanks to the rural shelter staff, Rescue 757, and everyone who helped get them here! Now we just need to get them home!
