About Gunner
Gunner is a 45-pound hound and beagle mix who keeps life simple and joyful. He’s an easygoing, medium-sized dog with a real soft spot for playtime—ropes, frisbees, and tug-of-war never seem to get old. If there’s a squeaky toy around, you’ll find Gunner mastering the art of squeaker removal, but don’t expect him to care much about the toy after that. Kids light him up; he’s happy and affectionate around them and adds love to every day. Gunner walks well on leash and follows off-leash, but he’s losing his hearing, so you’ll want to keep that in mind if you’re thinking about letting him roam free. He’s house and crate trained, so the basics are covered. He does best as the only pet—he isn’t a fan of sharing his food, toys, or water with other dogs, and cats aren’t his thing. Luckily, Gunner doesn’t mind people around his essentials and stays relaxed during meals and play with his humans. He’s a smart, charming guy, neutered, up to date on his vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Currently fostering in Hampton, Virginia, Gunner can travel to find the right fit—though there’s a transport fee. Think you’ve got the home he’s been hoping for?
