About Henry Chestnut
Meet Henry Chestnut, our delightful 7.5-year-old Shepherd/Carolina Dog mix. He’s had quite the journey, rescued from a crowded city shelter where he ended up on the euthanasia list due to fear. Now, Henry is thriving at a professional board-and-train facility, proving to everyone what an incredible companion he can be. Henry is doing exceptionally well with structure and training. He's responsive to commands, walks beautifully on a leash, and is crate trained. Off-leash training is also going well. Despite being in his mid-life, he has a moderate energy level—he enjoys good walks but is just as happy curling up for a nap after his adventures. Building a relationship with Henry requires patience. He needs someone who understands canine body language and can allow him to come to them at his own pace. Once he trusts you, his affectionate and playful side shines through, making the wait completely worth it. Henry can live well with another dog, given a thoughtful introduction. His ideal adopter will appreciate the structure he thrives on and will continue his training journey together. Plus, you’ll receive transition training support from his professional trainers after adoption. If you're ready to take the time to bond with an incredibly loyal companion, consider Henry. He's waiting for someone special to give him the love and understanding he needs. Foster-to-adopt is available. Click apply to start the adoption process!
