Meet Chapa! This charming 11-month-old is an active young dog with a beautiful golden coat and floppy ears that make him irresistibly cute. Friendly and treat-motivated, he’s always up for an adventure. Chapa arrived at Anderson Humane from a partner shelter in Oklahoma after testing positive for heartworm. Thankfully, heartworm treatment is very successful, and Chapa is expected to make a full recovery. It's best for heartworm-positive dogs to have a loving family while they undergo treatment, which generally lasts about three months. Anderson Humane's Clinic will support you through this journey, providing guidance and answering any questions you may have. In the meantime, rest assured that heartworm is transmitted only through mosquitoes.
