About Cypress
Cypress is a playful brindle and white pit mix who's around a year old and weighs about 55 pounds. At this energetic stage, he’s a mix of puppy enthusiasm and adult charm. Cypress absolutely adores playing fetch; toss him a ball, and he’s in his element, ready to chase, retrieve, and request another throw for as long as you're willing to keep it up. He thrives in active settings, so an outdoorsy family ready to throw the ball until their arms tire will be a perfect match for him. He already knows how to sit and shows swift learning ability. While he’s a skilled player, he still needs to refine his leash skills, as he tends to pull when excited—something that is frequent at the shelter. Consistent training on walks will help him focus better, and a basic obedience class could be a fantastic way to start his new life. Cypress hasn’t been tested with other dogs or cats yet, so any introductions with resident pets should be gradual and supervised. Similarly, he hasn't been assessed with children, so a slow introduction would be necessary there as well. If you're searching for an athletic dog who will keep fetching without ever tiring, come meet Cypress at Petersburg Animal Care & Control. To ensure someone is available to spend time with you, we prefer to schedule meet and greets. The shelter is open Monday through Friday, 10 am to 3 pm, with appointments available outside those hours based on volunteer availability.
