Meet Addie! This gentle little Chihuahua has been quietly rewriting her own story, one brave step at a time. When she first arrived, she spent her days with one little foot touching her bed, always ready to retreat if the world felt overwhelming. She hesitated to eat, unsure about treats, preferring the safety of her bed instead of joining the pack. It was heartbreaking to see her prepared to disappear at any moment. Addie came to Miri's Haven as part of a group of 15 Chihuahuas surrendered from one home. Thankfully, these past few weeks have brought wonderful changes. With love, patience, and encouragement from her four-legged friends, she's discovered that the world can be gentle, too. Once hesitant, she now happily runs with the pack and plays with her dog friends. Her favorite place is the yard, where she loves to explore, sniff, and enjoy all the pretty flowers. Addie has developed quite the palate for treats, enjoying carrots, Greek yogurt, and blueberries. After dinner, she patiently waits to join the cleanup crew, taking her quality assurance duties very seriously! At the end of the day, she curls up on the sofa or tucks herself under a blanket in bed, sleeping soundly through the night and waking up a little late—sounds sensible, right? Addie is a quiet companion who doesn’t require grand adventures. She walks short distances on leash but prefers to explore at her own pace or cruise in her stroller. She gets along well with both small and large dogs, and having a canine buddy in her forever home to help build her confidence is essential. She's also great with children. While she's good in the car, she doesn’t mind being left alone for a while when her humans are out. Being a senior, Addie does have a few maintenance needs. She takes daily Cosequin, needs to be carried up stairs, and is mostly housebroken with pee pads as a backup. She'll thrive in a home that offers time and patience for her to settle in, alongside another sweet dog to help reassure her. Addie doesn’t need excitement in her life; just safety, love, and companionship. Watching her discover the joy of running with the pack, enjoying treats, and curling up for warmth has been a beautiful journey.
