Meet Lainey, a gentle soul looking for her forever home or a caring foster family. Lainey arrived at the shelter completely overwhelmed and withdrawn, clearly struggling with the impact of her past. Abandoned with other dogs, she was found digging into a chicken coop in search of food. Unfortunately, this survival instinct led to her being brought to the shelter. Initially very scared, Lainey showed no aggression towards people or other dogs during her assessment, preferring to keep her distance. After undergoing surgery due to her pregnancy, which had to be ended because of shelter overpopulation, Lainey became even more withdrawn and visibly depressed. This lovely Labrador Retriever is not a dog that will easily open up or flourish without time and patience. She will benefit from a supportive adopter willing to patiently encourage her to explore a brighter future one step at a time.
