Meet Olive! Her journey is truly special. Rescued along with her friend Dottie from a dog-hoarding situation, Olive was brought to safety by Best Friends Animal Society in Utah before joining the Laramie Animal Welfare Society. After spending time in loving foster homes, she's now ready to start her next chapter: finding her forever home. At around 5 or 6 years old, Olive is gradually discovering that the world isn't as intimidating as it once seemed. In the beginning, car rides made her a furry little statue, but now she occasionally enjoys sticking her head out the window and feeling the wind in her fur. When she first arrived, she was hesitant to let anyone get close, but now she allows her foster to give her gentle snuggles after some encouragement. Olive prefers soft pets and reassuring words over excessive cuddling; she values her independence. Fun-loving Olive has learned to play and has moments when she gets the zoomies. Her playful antics include deer jumps and adorable spins, especially when she attempts to catch her own tail. She's eager to have a smaller dog companion or an older puppy who can play with her while being patient and understanding. Olive thrives on trust, especially with kind humans who reassure her. While loud noises or raised voices can scare her, she's generally fine with thunder and fireworks. Meal times require a little extra encouragement since she needs reassurance that the right dinner bowl is hers. However, snacks are a clear favorite she understands well! Olive enjoys having her kennel as a safe space but also likes a cozy dog bed near her people. She is cautious with indoor stairs, so she still needs some time to feel secure about them. While getting better on a leash, she's still learning the ropes of exploration and isn't quite ready for off-leash adventures. Although she hasn't interacted with cats, she'd prefer a home without small children. Calm, older kids who respect her space may be okay. As she grows more comfortable in her surroundings, she might even take an interest in agility classes. What Olive needs the most is a quiet, patient family that will encourage her progress and remind her how good she is. With love and support, she will continue to build her confidence and thrive.
