Scarlett found herself in rescue after being left behind by her previous owner, who was breeding Akitas. Upon her arrival, she was dealing with heartworms and a urinary tract infection. Currently, she is on a special diet to address her urinary issues, which has led to some weight gain; however, we don't expect her to remain on this diet indefinitely. Scarlett is still getting acclimated, so she's not ready for adoption yet, but as she continues her journey toward better health, she'll become available. Scarlett tends to be cautious around new people, requiring some time to build trust. This lovely Akita will thrive with an experienced owner familiar with the breed's nuances.
