About Tommy

8/1 deadline @ 2 pm- HIT BY CAR, BUT STABLE- MEDICAL EMERGENCY at SAN BERNARDINO, CA ( S CAL)- SAN BERNARDINO CITY SHELTER - ID #A596230, 'TOMMY' - 22 lb young chow mix, no fractures seen, but in pain and needs exit asap - NEEDS RESCUE and FOSTER- who can help? VIDEOS HAVE BEEN PASTED INTO COMMENTS SECTION OF THIS POST! This dear little 22 lb chow mix (yes, his tongue is mostly black) was found in Rialto, believe to be hit by a car with signs of abrasions. Per the shelter, he 'was taken to the emergency veterinary hospital for treatment. He is currently being monitored in our separate receiving area since he just returned from the emergency vet. At this time, he cannot be dog tested or kenneled with other dogs while he recovers.' Medical notes state, 'assessment: soft tissue trauma; diagnostics: radiographs: no visible fractures or luxations; treatments: 0.25 ml butorphanol/0.25 ml dexdomator IM for pain control and sedation. We are naming him Tommy and he is estimated at 3 years young, and still friendly despite what he has been through. The shelter said, 'He is friendly but is understandably a bit more standoffish at the moment due to his condition. Because of his medical concerns, he is also not able to be dog tested at this time.' We are looking for both a foster and rescue now as rescues likely need a foster to save. He is Rescue only for medical, but we can also refer potential adopters to rescues to foster to adopt. Rescue groups could also then assist with medical. listing link: https://24Petconnect.com/DetailsMain/SBCT/A596230 Since most rescue groups do need a foster and place to go, though, if you are interested in fostering, or foster to adopt, please contact robinmorgan@cox.net asap or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who is trying to assist with his placement, and we can try to pair you with a rescue to help or foster or adopt through. Time is of the essence. We are also raising pledges for his medical if you can help? Rescues should contact San Bernardino City Animal Control at (909) 998-4000 and also by email: SBRescue@sbcity.org asap and note the ID.
