About Jasper
Jasper is an almost 2-year-old blue merle Australian Shepherd, weighing about 55 lbs. Neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations, he’s a typical velcro dog, wanting to stay close to his humans. He has mesmerizing heterochromia eyes and a fluffy tail that sways happily when he’s around you. Previously, Jasper tried his paw at being a diabetic alert dog but found that wasn’t quite his calling. Now, he's on the lookout for a forever home where he can relax and enjoy all the love. Jasper enjoys going for walks and walks nicely at heel. While he’s athletic and loves to run around, he is protective of his toys and food, often using a Slo-Bowl to manage his meals. Jasper would do best as the only dog in the home due to some jealousy when other pets receive attention. However, he’s fine around dogs in public spaces. He’s house trained and crate trained but does vocalize his feelings about going into the kennel. Thunderstorms and fireworks can cause him to pace, but he does settle when given the chance. Potential adopters should know that he would benefit from some obedience training to unlock his great potential. Trusted recall is needed if he goes off-leash, but a fence isn't required.
