Otis is a 4.5-year-old, 145-pound Rottweiler with a heart as big as he is. His journey began before he even opened his eyes, entering rescue at just 8 days old when his mom, Sasha, gave birth under the care of Cedar Rapids Animal Care and Control. Raised in a nurturing foster home, he was adopted at 11 weeks. For several years, Otis thrived as a beloved family member. Unfortunately, after losing his canine brother to cancer, tragedy struck again when his mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer and later passed away. This led to Otis being returned to rescue when his dad faced housing issues, a significant change for him. Now, Otis is eager to embrace the future. He’s an affectionate boy who enjoys tug-of-war — a game he never loses! He also loves playing in his baby pool, ensuring every toy takes a dip before he retrieves it. Given his size, he needs a home as the only dog, where he can soak up all the love and attention. A fenced yard is essential for him to run and enjoy playtime safely. At 145 pounds, Otis is more than just a dog — he’s a lifestyle. He thinks personal space is non-essential and believes one couch can comfortably accommodate him, with humans fitting in wherever they can.
