Meet Morty, a charming young dog at around 2 years old and weighing approximately 17 lbs. Rescued from animal control, Morty is looking for a caring family that will provide him the love he deserves. He's a playful, friendly little fellow, enjoying the company of female dogs in his foster home and getting along with the resident kitty. However, he prefers to have a canine companion that's also a female, as he's not fond of male dogs. Morty thrives in a calm environment and does best with older children, particularly those aged 10 and up, since younger kids might accidentally bump him during play. Given his timid nature, Morty may take some time to fully trust men, but he has been making progress with his foster dad. Once he feels safe, Morty shows off his affectionate side and playful spirit while being a sweet companion. This little guy loves engaging in backyard play, going on neighborhood walks, and enjoys toys like squeaky ones and Benebones. Some of his habits include chewing on wood or other items, so it’s important to keep tempting things out of reach! Morty is house trained and understands basic commands like sit. Though he had some initial marking issues upon arrival, he has been successful on a potty schedule in his foster home. Importantly, he responds well to positive reinforcement but needs gentle guidance, as harsh corrections can cause him to cower. Morty is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and had successful cherry eye surgery, so he’s ready for a loving forever home.
