About Bear
Bear is a spirited 15-year-old Dachshund looking for a very special home. Despite his disabilities, he has a lot of love to share. Bear is toothless and has IVDD, which limits the use of his back legs. He is currently making strides in rehabilitation through therapies such as laser treatments and water treadmill sessions. His new caregiver will need to stay committed to his ongoing physical therapy and can help him learn to enjoy his wheelchair for walks and adventures. Living with Bear means being patient, especially since he has reduced bladder and bowel control. He tries his best, but accidents may happen. It’s crucial for his adopter to be understanding and compassionate. Bear experiences some separation anxiety, so ideally, his new home should have someone nearby most of the time—perhaps a retiree or someone who works from home. He would also love to have another friendly dog to keep him company. A home without stairs and a fenced yard is essential, giving him a secure space for potty breaks and exploration. Bear loves to scoot around on hard surfaces, and hardwood floors would be perfect for him. With his affectionate nature and strong personality, Bear can be quite vocal when he wants attention or cuddles. Yes, Bear comes with special needs, but he offers endless cuddles, unwavering love, and a daily dose of joy. If you're ready to welcome this charming senior into your life, Bear will give you all of his devotion in return. Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and let's get started.
