AvailableAbout SueSue
For eight years, the world was simple for SueSue. It was defined by the soft, familiar scent of her favorite person, the quiet routine of a calm household, and the gentle rhythm of a life lived side-by-side with her human. She was a constant, steady heart beating in sync with another. But at 12 years old, the life SueSue knew began to fade. Her person, struggling with the shadows of dementia, could no longer provide the care they once shared. Through no fault of her own, the only home SueSue has ever known became uncertain, and the future suddenly turned cold. Now, this sweet senior lady is looking for a new chapter. SueSue is a delightful Dachshund mix, weighing in at a cuddly 25 lbs (though, in her refined age, she could stand to lose a few pounds). She is fully spayed and will be up-to-date on all vaccinations, ensuring she is ready to transition smoothly into her new home. SueSue is a professional at being a good girl. She understands the world well: she's a seasoned roommate who has lived peacefully with other dogs, and she's house-trained, utilizing potty pads or heading outside with equal grace. She isn't looking for long runs or wild adventures; she is simply looking for a soft place to rest her head. She is a soul who has spent nearly a decade perfecting the art of companionship. She is waiting for someone who understands that a senior dog isn't just a pet-she is a lifetime of stories, a quiet comfort at the end of a long day, and a heart that still has plenty of love left to give. Because she has spent her life in a quiet, mature environment, SueSue would thrive best in a home that matches her gentle spirit-a calm, adult-oriented space where she can nap in the sun, follow you from room to room, and know, finally, that she is safe. She has given eight years of unwavering devotion to one person. Now, she is hoping to find someone to walk with her through her golden years. Could that someone be you? PLEASE READ BELOW: If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to complete an application and read all of our FAQs: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt Please note: Information to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. *An inquiry, questions or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application* All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info will be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the high volume of introductions/questions received we ask you to submit an application (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue). The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. For more on this, or for additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets (including an explanation about Benefactor Dogs), please see our FAQs page: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/faq Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as our website, Chewy, Pet Finder, and others. These are in no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed. ***Take Paws Rescue, based in New Orleans, saves dogs from high-kill shelters across the South, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it's the perfect match!
