SPECIFICS Purebred Persian, Red, copper eyes, 10 years-old, neutered male, 7 1/2lbs, with claws. Cat friendly: No Dog friendly: possibly, but must be respectful of cats Kid friendly: 10yrs+, cat savvy and respectful Special needs: None GETTING TO KNOW ME Bacon has a deep Golden Retriever red coat which is set off by large, intense copper eyes. He joined us in a lion-cut which is growing out and it seems to be on the cotton side. Yes, he's 10 years old but Bacon will wear you out! Bacon is super curious and is obsessed with wand toys and playing in water. Hmmm maybe he is part Golden Retriever?1? Once comfortable with new people he's ready for adventures. He does not want a cat or dog in his new home but would rather you only had eyes for him and catered to his every whim. IDEAL HOME Bacon needs a home that is stable and cat experienced home. He gives very clear body signal when he's had enough or humans are pushing his buttons. Bacon would thrive with an attentive family who's home regularly and willing to indulge his daily need of adventure and activities. No cats, maybe a dog that would ignore him. His wish list includes cat trees near windows for bird-watching and cozy spots to lounge with his favorite humans but all that rest is after playtime and enrichment. CARE REQUIREMENTS *Feeding: 4Health pate canned(would likely easily transition easily to another pate canned. *Water:he enjoys the fresh, clean water from his ceramic water fountain(a bowl for water isn't a good idea, he will have his feet in it and play in it until it goes all over). *Litter: Large, open-style box with unscented clumping litter (one box per cat, plus one extra) currently using Worlds Best & Grass Seed Litters. *Grooming: Combing and slicker once a week with a monthly nail trim. He might be best kept in a lion-cut. We've heard he's not a fan of full-coat maintenance. His eyes will need the usual daily care with a cotton round with Eye Envy. *He was great with a Fear-Free, Feline Friendly Vet but doesn't like to be pushed and does best with gabapentin prior to vet visits and grooming. TRANSITION TIPS Bacon needs a patient family who understands that settling in takes time often up to 3 months. Bacon will absolutely need to start out in a "base camp" room in his new home, while he becomes familiar and comfortable with his new people and environment. VETTING PROVIDED Exam, neutered, tested negative for FELV/FIV, FVRCP and rabies vaccinated, completed parasite protocol, Dental, senior cbc/chem with xrays and is microchipped.
