<p class="isSelectedEnd"><strong>Meet Lucille!</strong></p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Lucille is a darling senior Beagle/Basset Hound mix whose story could have ended very differently. When her owner considered euthanasia due to concerns about separation anxiety, the veterinary clinic caring for her reached out to us to see if we could help. Of course, we said yes!</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Since coming into rescue, Lucille has had a full veterinary checkup. She tested negative for heartworm, had her vaccines updated, and is now settling into a wonderful foster home in the St. Louis area.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">This sweet girl is everything we love about houndsa long, adorable Basset-ish body, soulful eyes, and a gentle, loving personality. Lucille weighs about 40 pounds (as of her June 10 vet visit) and is currently maintained on monthly Apoquel to help manage her allergies.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">As for the separation anxiety concerns, we've been encouraged by what we've seen so far. While waiting for transport at the veterinary clinic, Lucille stayed in their kennel run and was not overly anxious. Staff reported that she would perk up and bark when people walked by, but that's pretty typical dog behavior. They did not observe anything that raised significant concerns regarding separation anxiety.</p> <p>Lucille has also met a cat and did very well. There was plenty of sniffing and tail wagging, leading us to believe that a feline friend would likely be just fine in her future home.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Most of all, Lucille is simply a sweetheart who deserves a soft place to land and a family to love her through her golden years.
