About Derby

Meet Derby, an approximately 3-year-old Beagle weighing in at 30.6 pounds. He spent months on his own as a stray before finding safety with us. Although the world can still feel overwhelming, Derby is revealing himself as a gentle and sweet soul. He's a bit nervous in new situations, sometimes trembling during car rides, but he shows no aggression. Patience and a calm environment are essential as he learns he is safe and cared for. A secure yard will be necessary for him to adjust comfortably to life in a home. Derby enjoys the company of other dogs but we are still learning about his interactions with children. He doesn't seem interested in cats, so he could fit well into a family with or without them. Derby has been neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated, and he's heartworm negative, although he is currently being treated for Lyme disease. While he decompresses in his foster home, Derby is expected to be available for adoption after June 10th in Kent, WA. We’re excited to see him leave survival mode and discover what love truly means. This boy deserves a patient and understanding family ready to give him the love he needs. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
