Meet Mater, an 80 lb bundle of affection who thinks he’s a lap dog. After being rescued from a South Carolina shelter as a stray last December, it was discovered he had been shot. Unfortunately, he needed to have his front right leg amputated due to the damage. Now, Mater is healed and adjusting well to life on three legs. He loves people and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. His sweet, laid-back personality makes it easy for everyone to fall for him. Mater enjoys short play sessions outdoors but is quick to settle down for a nap. His favorite activities include swimming in his life vest and indulging in whipped cream, which he would gladly eat every day if he could. Despite his size, Mater is convinced he belongs right in your lap. This gentle giant has faced challenges but meets each day with a wagging tail and a loving heart.
