About Chickpea
Meet Chickpea, a 3-year-old French Bulldog with an unmistakable bulldog attitude. Chickpea came to rescue with overgrown nails and not much experience with structure, training, or consistent care. Spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped, she’s a social dog who enjoys meeting people and behaves well in new situations. She can be bossy with other dogs—particularly when they’re playing rough—and is best suited as the only dog or with a calm, easygoing companion. Chickpea likely won’t mix well with cats, thanks to a high prey drive. This is not a dog for first-timers or families with young kids. Chickpea will grab treats from your hands and jumps up a lot, so kids over 12 are a better match. She’s learning house manners and still working on potty training, including accidents in her crate, but she’s improving. She handles car rides and leash walks, sleeps in her crate, and enjoys chewing toys around the house. French Bulldogs need experienced owners, and Chickpea is no exception. They often have ongoing health issues, high vet costs, and are prone to overheating—she’ll need careful supervision outdoors with activity and temperature. Chickpea will take charge of her household and needs an adopter ready to manage her strong personality and lifelong health needs. She’s located in Yorktown, VA, and adopters must live within two hours. Give them the home they have been waiting for. Apply today.

Questions about Chickpea
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
French Bulldogs like Chickpea are best suited for indoor living environments with temperature control, as they are prone to overheating and breathing issues. She will thrive in a home where she is the center of attention and rules the roost.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Chickpea won’t need a large yard, but she does appreciate short, supervised walks and outdoor time. French Bulldogs are not especially high-energy and their need for space is modest, but supervision outdoors is essential due to risk of overheating.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Chickpea should only join homes with children over 12 due to her tendency to snatch food quickly and her boisterous behavior, which could overwhelm small kids. French Bulldogs in general do best with older, respectful children.
