About Emma

Emma’s journey started deep in the mountains near Guffey, Colorado, where she was discovered on her own and in rough shape. Starved, plagued by hookworms, and with a coat so matted it had to be shaved away, Emma didn’t get off to an easy start. But she made it through, and those days are behind her now. Emma is healthy, her spirit is unbroken, and she’s ready for what comes next: a real, lasting home. At around one year old and roughly 60 pounds, Emma is a Standard Poodle mix with soft brown ears, a silver-gray body, and cream on her chest and legs. Her tail is still growing in after being shaved, but her beautiful coat will return over time. Emma’s temperament stands out—she approaches the world with both sweetness and caution. In her foster home, she gets along easily with small dogs, quickly befriends people and canines alike, and enjoys exploring a fenced yard. She’d thrive in a home with another friendly dog and a person who’s around often. Emma’s house training keeps improving, and she’s eager to please. She can be a bit sensitive—she’ll sometimes flinch if startled, a leftover from her difficult past. But her trust builds quickly, and she stays close to those who care for her, following them from room to room and always looking for affection. Her personality is balanced: she’s calm for a young dog but happy to be part of whatever you’re doing, never demanding or hyper. Emma is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to meet her forever people. Let her show you how resilient and loving a dog can be. Let’s make it official, apply to adopt!
