Gouda
AvailableGouda is a 6-year-old, neutered male Pug living in Gardena, CA. He's small in size and has his vaccinations up to date. Gouda gets along well with other dogs and will thrive best in a quieter home with plenty of patience.
About Gouda
Meet Gouda. Yes, he absolutely lives up to his name as the big cheese. This 6-year-old Pug was surrendered after his previous family could not manage their allergies, which left him isolated in a single room for much of his life. Because of that, Gouda is still figuring out how to navigate the world and isn't always as confident or social as you'd expect. When he first landed in the rescue, Gouda was hesitant—new faces, new noises, the works. But he's started to relax, get goofy, and show flashes of his real personality. He's got distinct opinions: loud sounds and having his food disturbed are definite no's. But soft blankets, trusted dog friends, and, especially, treats? Absolutely. Gouda is extremely food motivated and quickly gives his approval to humans who come bearing snacks. He does know a few basic cues, though he skips the formalities and usually just lies down instead of sitting, which is pretty entertaining to watch. He enjoys running around and getting the zoomies in the yard, especially with mellow canine companions. Gouda is initially shy with new people but warms up with patience and time. He's lived with children but would do best in a quiet home with adults or older kids, since he's sensitive about his food. What Gouda needs most is a calm household and a patient adopter who understands that trust and confidence are built one day at a time. Once settled, he's affectionate, playful, and genuinely a joy to have around. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
