About Wezley

Wezley is a four-year-old pug weighing just over 20 pounds with plenty of opinions. He came to rescue after he started resource guarding his previous owner from her husband, so he takes his role as protector pretty seriously. In the right home, with patience and the right mindset, this is workable—he’s currently on anxiety medication and responding to structure, training, and steady socialization. But get past that, and you meet the true Wezley: The ultimate velcro pug. He thrives near his person, trailing them everywhere. He lives for cuddles, loves snoozing in the sun, car rides, walks, and romps in the grass. He can switch between play and independent relaxation like a pro. Wezley has a strong foundation in obedience, knowing cues like sit, stay, down, spin, roll, speak, wait, shake, outside, and of course, anything involving treats. He’s smart and highly food motivated—training is both possible and enjoyable with him. Certain things still irk him, like nail trims and loud noises, and he can be wary of some men and larger dogs. He needs a human who’s tuned into dog communication and ready to manage boundaries. Since coming into rescue, he has shown he can integrate with a calm group of people and dogs. He enjoys company and attention, especially once trust is there. Wezley is intensely loyal, snuggly, and self-assured, not a starter dog, but for the right adopter, he’ll be a fiercely attached companion. Born on May 12, Wezley is a Taurus—expect a dog who knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to show it. Click apply to start the adoption process.
