About Rockford

Rockford is about two months old and weighs around three pounds—but he’s growing fast. One of the spirited Detective-themed puppies, he landed at Mostly Mutts after animal control picked him up at just six weeks. Now he’s living the good life in a foster home, learning what it means to be safe, loved, and surrounded by a pack. Rockford thrives on social connections and would do well with another friendly dog. He gets along with cats too, as shown by his rapport with the resident feline, but every cat is unique so some introductions might need patience. He hasn't met children yet; careful supervision around very young kids is important since he's so small and easy to trip over. Rockford is an energetic, curious little guy. He dives into play, hands out puppy kisses, and assumes everyone—person or pet—is a potential friend. His days are packed with adventure and tail wags. He's at the paper training stage and is starting to learn outside potty rules, but he’ll need gentle, consistent guidance as he grows. Chewing is part of teething, so keep slippers out of reach, but Rockford responds well to redirection. He's learning crate basics and does best with company. Watch him closely outside—he’s little enough to attract birds of prey. Rockford has started his puppy shots and is microchipped, but will need to be neutered in a few months by the rescue’s vet, so adopters must be local. This playful and affectionate puppy is waiting to bring joy (and a little chaos) to his new family. This could be the start of something paw-some.
