Hershey
AvailableHershey is a small, senior neutered male, believed to be a mixed-breed Dachshund, with a wire coat that’s slowly regrowing after treatment for severe skin issues. He’s house trained, up to date on vaccinations, and currently located in Fort Walton Beach, FL. Hershey’s current coloring is gray and tan, and at his last weigh-in, he was about 16 lbs.
About Hershey
Hershey has been through a lot. He ended up in a shelter that refused to put him down, so he found his way to Okaloosa County and a fresh start with The Rescued Rescuers. When he arrived, Hershey was dealing with serious skin infections, infected ears, dry eyes, odd growths, and major dental problems. Treatment has been slow but steady—his skin is slowly healing, fine new hair is starting to grow, and the biggest issues are being addressed one by one. Despite everything, Hershey remains gentle and sweet-natured. His foster jokes that the "nekkid look" suits him, and while it’s too early to say if he’ll ever have a thick coat again, his recovery is clear. Hershey can’t be adopted just yet; he still needs time to fully heal and get the rest of his care. But even in recovery, he’s already winning over everyone he meets. Hershey is a quiet, low-energy fellow looking for a calm retirement home when the time comes. Your new best friend could be waiting—just keep an eye out for his updates. Adoption is the new adventure! Ready to roll?
