About Toby

Toby’s been searching for a home since he landed at the rescue as a stray with nowhere to return. He’s a Shar-Pei and Boxer mix, somewhere between 2 and 4 years old, and fully vetted and neutered. In good health, Toby stays on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention while in foster care. He’s house trained, polite when taking treats, has solid leash manners, and craves company—he’s happiest next to someone or curled up in a lap. He loves being outside and plays well on his own but will always check in to make sure you’re still around. Toby lights up during walks and responds eagerly to cues like “go for a walk,” “ready for breakfast,” and “ready for bed.” He’s eager for attention but can get jumpy-excited, especially with dogs or when kids come around, which is why a home with small children isn’t recommended. He’s not been fully dog-tested, as the resident dogs aren’t great with newcomers, but at the park, Toby mostly ignores adults, nub-wags at kids, and gets excited by passing dogs. He’s also curious about smaller animals but responds to correction. Shared-wall housing isn’t ideal as his bark is deep. A fenced yard is a bonus, not a must. Toby comes with his bed, collar, and toys to help ease the transition. He’ll need a few weeks to settle but quickly blooms on a consistent routine. A meet and greet is required before adoption. Give them the home they have been waiting for. Apply today.
