About Dash
Dash is a classic black and tan Rat Terrier who came from a local Texas breeder preparing to close due to illness. He’s small—expected to top out at 15 to 18 pounds—playful, sweet, and strikingly photogenic for a puppy of his age. Dash is one of the smaller males in his litter but showed remarkable patience during his photo session, acting calm and attentive. His breed leans toward being energetic and alert, best suited for a moderately to highly active home willing to engage both his mind and body. Rat Terriers are known for their intelligence, making training straightforward with a gentle hand, and their sensitive nature means they thrive with positive attention. Dash is also affectionate and loyal—qualities his breed consistently brings forward as family pets and little watchdogs. He does well with children but would be best with those eight or older. He’s still working on house training and, while considered purebred, papers are not included. Local adoption is available in Texas, or Dash can travel to approved states along the East Coast, Washington, Portland, Minnesota, or Vermont with transport. Adoption isn’t available to Rhode Island or Massachusetts due to state regulations. Ready to move onto his next chapter, Dash is searching for the right fit with someone who appreciates what makes Rat Terriers special. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
