About Odessa D

Hi, my name is Odessa and I am from Alabama! I am a very sweet girl with a lowkey personality. I have long soft ears and a few grey hairs and some wrinkles which I think makes me even more beautiful. My favorite hobbies are sniffing bunny and squirrel tracks and napping. One of my quirks is that l love rolling around on my back, both inside and in the grass. I enjoy meeting everyone, including kids and dogs. I really like sleeping in bed with my foster parents and they like that I stay at the bottom part of the bed and on top of the covers. I like to be in the same room as you and will dutifully get up and follow you to make sure you're ok. I'm completely house trained, and mind my manners. I'm usually really quiet although when you leave me home alone sometimes I bark because I miss you. I'd love to be your family dog or your sidekick! From the vet: I am currently being treated for heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious so your resident pets are not at risk! The treatment for this is 3-4 months long and requires a minimum of 3 appointments and strict rest/restricted activity. My adoption can take place during treatment, while TBB manages the financial responsibility of my heartworm treatment at The Bond Between Vet Center. Any other medical care needed outside of the specific care covered in the contract disclaimer, would be the responsibility of my new family. Odessa is currently tackling Stage 2 heartworm disease, but she isn't letting that slow her down! This just means she has a mild cough and some normal, manageable changes to her heart and lungs. The great news? Her prognosis is excellent! She just needs a dedicated adopter who can help her take it easy during her treatment with some strict, low-key downtime. Because she's a distinguished older gal, she'll just need a lifelong monthly heartworm preventative and regular annual vet checkups to keep her golden years bright, healthy, and happy.
