About Sputnik

Somewhere out in the galaxy, there’s probably an entire alien civilization wondering why their happiest little space explorer mysteriously disappeared… and honestly, we may have found him. Meet Sputnik! Named after the famous satellite, Sputnik has made it his personal mission to orbit every human, dog, and interesting object within a five-mile radius. He’s outgoing, goofy, and operating on the kind of optimism usually only found in Disney movies and Labradors who have never experienced consequences. If there’s an adventure happening, Sputnik wants in. If there’s cuddling available, he assumes it was specifically arranged for him. And if there’s another dog nearby? Congratulations, you’ve just become part of his galactic friendship alliance whether you consented or not. 📍 Location: Broken Arrow, OK -Adopters will need to come pick up their new furry family member themselves. Apply here: https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app Sputnik is a 6 week old, 11lb male Great Pyrenees who arrived alongside his siblings Hubble, Orbit, Celeste, and Ursa Major (from another litter), plus mom Supernova and dad Alioth after their family was no longer able to keep them during a move. And honestly? Getting handed an entire family of giant white cloud-bears feels less like rescue work and more like being chosen for a very fluffy NASA mission. Now before you look at this tiny little polar bear puff and think, “Oh my gosh, what a cute little portable puppy,” let us stop you right there. Mom is underweight at around 70lbs. Dad is underweight at around 100lbs. This is not a “fits in your tote bag while you shop at Target” situation. This is a “you have approximately two weeks left where you can comfortably scoop him up before your chiropractor starts greeting you by first name” situation. Pyrs are incredibly smart but also deeply committed to pretending they cannot hear you while actively making eye contact. Sputnik will absolutely grow into the kind of dog who patrols your backyard like a suburban security guard investigating criminal squirrel activity while also whining because you stopped cuddling him. And despite eventually becoming approximately the size of a small refrigerator, he will remain fully convinced he is a delicate lap puppy forever. The bigger they get, the more dramatic and emotionally dependent they become. It’s science. Oh, and shedding is not a problem, it is an interior decorating style. ;) Thankfully, Sputnik comes with all the best Pyr qualities too: sweet, loving, loyal, goofy, gentle, and the kind of dog who makes people fall hopelessly in love with giant guardian breeds despite all common sense and vacuum cleaner limitations. Curious about Sputnik's social report? Well, let's see. When Sputnik sees the resident auntie dogs through the gate, he immediately trots over like a tiny diplomatic ambassador arriving for an important peace summit. His mission? Delivering kisses. Lots of them. This boy genuinely seems convinced every dog he meets is simply a long-lost member of his galactic fan club. As for cats? Sputnik has never officially encountered one yet, but given his personality, we suspect he would immediately accept the cat as the supreme ruler of the household within approximately seven minutes. And kids? Sputnik recently met some school-aged children and handled it like the fluffy little celebrity he is. At first, the enthusiastic “OH MY GOSH PUPPY!!!” energy caused him to briefly retreat and reconsider his life choices from a safe distance. But once he realized the tiny humans were offering cuddles and affection instead of taxes or manual labor, he melted directly into their arms like a warm marshmallow. Once he feels safe, he is all about the snuggles, affection, and gentle companionship. He’s the kind of puppy who may pause to assess the situation first, but then fully commits to being adored. On the energy scale, Sputnik is currently sitting at about a 4/10, which honestly feels shocking considering puppies are usually tiny caffeinated goblins with no regard for human peace. But these little cadets? Surprisingly chill. They are not launching themselves off furniture, summoning demons through zoomies, or treating your ankles like moving chew toys. Revolutionary behavior, honestly. Personality-wise, Sputnik is an outgoing, happy-to-be-alive kind of puppy. The world is still very new to him, so sudden movements or loud surprises can occasionally make him pause and reconsider whether he should retreat to his emotional support corner for a moment. But the longer you sit with him, the more that cautiousness melts away. Once he decides you are safe, his confidence grows quickly and suddenly you’ve got this sweet little marshmallow trotting over for affection like he’s known you forever. He wants to play, cuddle, investigate, and participate in whatever gentle activities the crew is doing. Now while Sputnik is currently an adorable little cloud potato with paws, it’s important to remember that he is still very much a baby alien learning how Earth works. His future family will need to continue working on all the normal puppy things… you know, the glamorous stuff nobody puts in the cute adoption photos. Socialization will be incredibly important for him as he grows. Sputnik is already sweet and affectionate, but continuing to safely expose him to new people, sounds, places, animals, and experiences will help him grow into a confident, well-adjusted giant marshmallow instead of a dramatic suspicious floof who believes the Amazon driver is an active international threat. Consistency, patience, routines, and praise will be important while his tiny puppy brain connects the dots. The good news? The effort is absolutely worth it. Underneath all the fluff, selective hearing, and occasional baby silliness is a sweet, loyal, goofy puppy who is going to grow into an incredible companion. If you’re prepared for the fluff, the love, the selective hearing, the giant cuddles, and the future 100lb “lap dog” experience, then Sputnik is accepting applications from qualified Earth residents at: https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app Please remember: commenting “mine,” “I want him,” or “OMG 😍” does not legally bind Sputnik to you through intergalactic puppy law. You do actually have to fill out the adoption application so we can send it to his foster family for review like civilized people. And yes, you will need to come pick this cosmic marshmallow up in Broken Arrow, OK. Sputnik unfortunately does not come with free Prime shipping, overnight delivery, or SpaceX launch capabilities.
