Bullseye, 4 months (estimated DOB Jan 2026), male, Retriever/Pitbull mix, currently weighs 39 pounds (weighed 5/22), estimated to be a large size when full grown. He is in a foster home in Houston, TEXAS and able to transport once matched to an adopter. We have no idea all that he's mixed with but we know he will be a large size when full grown. This family was rescued from the woods in a rural and well known dumping area outside of Houston. Wanda, mom, had her litter of puppies during a cold freeze that came through Texas at that time. A networker discovered her and her 2 day old puppies. We were able to move mom and 6 puppies to safety in a foster home. Bullseye is the strong, silent type — the biggest pup in the litter and an adorable little chunk with an even bigger heart. While his siblings are busy creating chaos, Bullseye prefers to sit back and take it all in first, carefully watching the world around him before deciding to join the fun. He’s thoughtful, observant, and has a calm, gentle nature that makes him stand out in the best way. That said, don’t mistake his quiet side for shyness — Bullseye absolutely loves to play with his siblings and romp around with his mama. He balances his reserved personality with playful puppy energy and sweet affection. Whether he’s joining the chase, enjoying dinnertime, or soaking up scratches and cuddles, Bullseye is happiest when he’s close to the people and dogs he loves. This sweet boy adores pets, snuggles, and quality cuddle time. He has the kind of soft, soulful presence that makes you instantly fall in love. He’s the puppy who will quietly lean into you for comfort, happily curl up beside you after playtime, and remind you every day how special gentle dogs can be. Bullseye has been around children and does well with them, though he has not yet been introduced to cats. Like any young puppy, he is not fully housebroken or crate trained yet and will need a patient family committed to continuing his training and helping him build confidence as he grows. Puppyhood is such an important developmental stage. This is the time when puppies learn house manners, crate comfort, appropriate chewing habits, and how to navigate the world with confidence. Leash walking doesn’t happen overnight — it takes consistency, encouragement, and positive reinforcement to teach a puppy not to zig-zag after every leaf or get distracted by every exciting smell. The effort you put in now creates the foundation for a well-balanced adult dog later. Socialization is especially important at this age. Safe, positive exposure to new people, environments, sounds, and dogs helps puppies grow into confident, stable companions. Because of this, we love seeing our puppies placed in homes with another friendly, well-mannered dog who can help mentor them and teach appropriate play and communication skills. We understand that not every home currently has another dog, and that’s okay too. If you do not have a resident dog, we will want to hear your specific plan for safe socialization once Bullseye is old enough and fully vaccinated. Structured puppy classes, supervised playdates, daycare, and intentional positive experiences can all help set him up for success. Due to the demands of puppyhood, we also do not place puppies this young into homes where someone is routinely away for more than four hours during the day. Puppies need frequent potty breaks, training, enrichment, structure, and human interaction to help prevent anxiety and behavioral challenges while building healthy lifelong habits. Raising a puppy takes patience, flexibility, and dedication — but the reward is immeasurable. Bullseye is looking for a forever family that will appreciate his gentle heart, loyal spirit, playful side, and endless puppy cuddles while helping him grow into the confident, loving companion he’s meant to be. Virtual home visit, personal and vet reference checks are required to complete the process.
