Loki, 4 months (estimated DOB Jan 2026), male, Retriever/Pitbull mix, currently weighs 35 pounds (as of 5/22), estimated to be a large size when full grown. He is in a foster home in Houston, TEXAS and able to transport once matched to an adopter. A picture of mom for reference is also included- she is 55 pounds. We have no idea what these puppies are mixed with but they are all on the larger size! This family was rescued from the woods in a rural and well known dumping area outside of Houston. Wanda, mom, had her litter of puppies during a cold freeze that came through Texas at that time. A networker discovered her and her 2 day old puppies. We were able to move mom and 6 puppies to safety in a foster home. Loki is starting to navigate the world around him with all the confidence of a puppy who believes he runs the place — and honestly, he kind of does. Appropriately named after the God of Mischief, Loki is the fearless little ringleader of the pack, always the first to investigate something new and loudly announcing his presence like he’s ten times his size. Brave, bold, and endlessly entertaining, he approaches life with nonstop puppy confidence and curiosity. This mischievous little troublemaker loves stirring things up with his siblings, routinely waking them from naps to convince them playtime should start immediately. He’s an expert climber and certified furniture parkour champion, happily conquering couches, ottomans, and anything else he can scale. When he gets hold of his favorite toy, Loki turns into a mastermind of chaos, daring his siblings to catch him in a game of keep-away. Though he can be a tiny bit hesitant with brand-new experiences at first, he warms up quickly and jumps right into the action. He absolutely loves food and has no problem pushing his siblings aside for treats or dinnertime. Loki has typical puppy energy and is always ready for his next adventure, zoomie session, or wrestling match. Loki and his siblings attended a community event where he interacted well with adults and kids! Despite all his antics and endless energy, Loki has an incredibly sweet side too. After a full day of adventures and harmless chaos, he crashes hard and transforms into the perfect cuddly lap puppy who just wants to snuggle up close to his people. Loki is housebroken, but we expect accidents in a new home. He has spent some time in a crate, but due to his age we do not crate him for long periods of time. He has been around children but has not yet interacted with cats. Puppyhood is such an important stage of development. This is the time when puppies learn house manners, crate comfort, appropriate chewing habits, and how to navigate the world with confidence. Leash skills don’t happen overnight — they take patience, consistency, positive reinforcement, and lots of practice. The time invested early truly shapes the dog they become later. One of the biggest focuses at this age is proper socialization. Safe, positive exposure to new people, sounds, environments, and other dogs helps puppies grow into stable, confident adult dogs. We especially love seeing puppies grow up with a well-adjusted canine role model in the home. A resident dog can help teach appropriate play, communication cues, and boundaries in ways humans simply can’t replicate. For that reason, homes with another friendly, well-mannered dog are preferred for Loki. That said, we understand not every home currently has another dog. If you do not, we will want to hear your specific socialization plan once Loki is old enough and fully vaccinated. Structured puppy classes, supervised daycare, regular playdates with trusted dogs, and other intentional positive experiences are all wonderful ways to help set him up for success. Because this developmental stage is so critical, we also do not place puppies this young into homes where someone is away for more than four hours at a time during the day. Puppies need frequent potty breaks, training sessions, enrichment, and human interaction to build healthy habits and prevent future anxiety or behavioral concerns. Raising a puppy takes time, flexibility, patience, and dedication — but the reward is an incredible lifelong companion who trusts you completely and grows into a confident, well-balanced dog. Loki is ready to bring laughter, adventure, cuddles, and just the right amount of chaos to the lucky family who gives him his forever home. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt him?
