We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Phineas, 3 years old, neutered male, Staffordshire Terrier mix, 85 pounds (pure love). He is being fostered in HOUSTON, TEXAS and can transport to an adopter once approved. Phinn was found as a stray in Houston and brought to the county shelter. Christina his foster mom and I were looking through the euthanasia list he landed on it. She had a spot open in her house so we decided to rescue someone. We both kept coming back to this guy. We knew based on his size he had little chance of making it out. We are SO happy he was saved. When we say he is really the best dog, we mean it. Phineas is the kind of dog who leaves a lasting impression on everyone he meets. Equal parts goofy tank and oversized cuddle bug, this handsome boy has mastered the art of lounging — but don’t let that fool you. Every now and then, Phinn gets hit with a burst of zoomies and suddenly he’s scurrying around the house making hilarious grunts, groans, and playful “alligator” noises with his dog friends before promptly melting back into a couch cushion ten minutes later. Despite living in a very full household with dogs of all sizes, ages, and personalities, Phinn has proven himself to be incredibly easygoing and dog-friendly. He’s usually more interested in relaxing than roughhousing, and he’s excellent at respecting other dogs’ boundaries. He’s met countless foster dogs over time and has remained neutral, social, and adaptable with every single one. On walks, he does pull enthusiastically to say hello — mostly because he genuinely loves everyone. Phinn is a low-to-moderate energy boy who would thrive in just about any loving home. A backyard to sunbathe in or a few short daily walks are plenty for him. He’s fully house trained, trustworthy loose in the home, and perfectly content snoozing while his humans are away. He also loves his crate and happily eats and relaxes in it when needed. This sweet boy is deeply affectionate and happiest when he’s close to his people, whether that’s curled up beside you on the couch, riding shotgun on a brewery outing, or snuggled in bed. He’s friendly with strangers, calm in the car, and unfazed by loud noises, storms, or household chaos. While he’d likely adore having kids or another dog around, he doesn’t need either to be happy — he’s confident and content all on his own. Phinn’s foster describes him as one of their favorite fosters ever, and it’s easy to see why. Between his adorable underbite, floppy ears, signature head tilt, and surprisingly “small dog” personality packed into a giant body, he’s impossible not to love. He’s silly, resilient, endlessly sweet, and ready to become someone’s very best friend. We have no history with cats or kids. Please note our process starts with an application. If we think you might be a good fit, we will reach out to coordinate a phone interview. This is followed by a video call with the foster home. Virtual home visit, personal and vet reference checks are required to complete the process. Transport is included in our adoption donation. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt her?
