About Little Bear
Little Bear is a small Yorkshire Terrier mix, about a year old and full of classic terrier puppy spirit. He’s athletic, playful, and affectionate, but he’s also independent—a dog who loves toys almost as much as he loves exploring. He’s currently fostered in Linn County, within a couple of hours of most major cities in Oregon, and meeting part way for adoption is an option for serious adopters from farther away. He’s vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, and has received all the standard vet work. Bear is not yet fully house trained, but he rides well in the car and knows how to come when called, especially if treats are involved. He adapts quickly and keeps learning new skills. A leash and off-leash recall are already in his toolkit. His foster recommends a home that won’t use crates, with a securely fenced yard and plenty of opportunities for Bear to stay active—he’ll thrive with people who like hiking, gardening, and adventure. He’s not a lap or pocket dog. Bear gets along well with other adult dogs and would benefit from a playful canine buddy at home or among friends. He likes to nap under furniture and has a friendly, gentle way with people. While he hasn’t had much exposure to children, he’s expected to do well with dog-savvy kids. His bark is sharp but infrequent, which is something to consider if you are sensitive to noise. His perfect family will let him sleep nearby (or under) their bed and treat him as a true member of the household. Prior rescue dog experience is preferred. Smoking households are not a fit.
